We are aware of the following global/transnational awareness initiatives in connection with Global Security Week (GSW):

Security industry bodies, professional associations etc.

  • The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) ran a one-day conference during GSW 2007. OWASP chapters in many countries participated.
  • SANS is aware of GSW 2007.
  • Safer Internet Day on February 7th 2007 again included a global blogathon, extending the previous year’s successful event with yet more creative ideas.
  • ISACA (home to CISA and CISM certifications, COBIT and the IT Governance Institute) has been contacted about GSW.
  • (ISC)2 (International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium - home of the CISSP and SSCP certifications and 2005’s “Year of the Information Security Professional”) has been informed about GSW.
  • CERT has been contacted about GSW via the Coordination Center.
  • Information Security Forum has been contacted about GSW.
  • The Anti-Phishing Working Group has been contacted about GSW.
  • IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) has been contacted about GSW.
  • The Bank for International Settlements has been informed about GSW.
  • The Banking Industry Technology Secretariat (BITS) has been contacted about GSW.
  • The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has been informed about GSW.
  • The Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF), part of the World Bank Group, has been contacted about GSW.
  • The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FSISAC) has been contacted about GSW.
  • Members of , , IT Governance mailing list and the have all been informed about GSW.
  • ASIS International are to be contacted about GSW (anyone with suitable contacts at ASIS, please get in touch with us).
  • Other ideas for spreading the word about GSW? Please contact us if you are on the committee or at least have the ear of any similar bodies. 

Official, quasi-governmental and other trans-, multi- or non-national bodies

  • European Security Task Force supports GSW. The task force supports numerous information security-related initiatives and conferences.
  • IST Biometric Security Project (BIOSEC) is aware of GSW via the European Security Task Force.
  • The European Commission EUROPA has been contacted about GSW via Europe Direct.
  • OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) has been contacted about GSW. OECD runs a substantial multinational security awareness program called Towards a Culture of Security.
  • We also need to make contact with the UN etc. Any well-placed volunteers or those with contacts in high places, please contact us.
